Getting Gavin to give the bicycle the once over
Gavin runs Homewood Bicycles in Ashford in Kent. Our bicycle has gone to his workshop so he can double check over our work and also see if he can get a bit more out of the brakes. Great guy to know. He had an original Norman tradesman bicycle that he has just sold for £250 (March 2016) A total bargain for someone.
The contact details for Gavin are in the picture on the left or you can visit his website here.http://homewoodcycles.co.uk.
You can see the rack in this picture does not have the pannier supports. That's because at time of writing they have just turned up and need blasting and powder coating.
We have found an old rack with pannier fixings so we going to discard the rack but use the fixings. We have also found 2 Yugoslavian ammunition boxes that are of metal construction. They are an ideal size and to go with our air force theme for the bicycle they will be painted in the blue colour to match. 2 enamel Union Jack flags will be placed on the boxes to give them a patriotic flavour. You can see one of the panniers here held in a rough position with a cable tie. We aim to have the panniers as a permanent fixture so they will be bolted on.
